The Long Beach Marathon 2024 is scheduled for October 5th and 6th. It’s a great opportunity to run or bike along the beautiful California coast and enjoy the perfect Southern California weather.

Long Beach Marathon 2024 Race Details

The Long Beach Marathon 2024 offers four events with varying distances and styles:

Marathon (26.2 miles):

Date & Time: Sunday, October 6th, 2024 (Start time TBA)
Course: Fast and flat, starting in Downtown Long Beach, passing the Queen Mary and Shoreline Village, running along the beach path, through Belmont Shore, looping around CSULB campus, and finishing with a fast section on Ocean Boulevard.
Elevation: Sea level
Registration: Open now
Packet Pick-Up: October 4th & 5th (details TBA)
Course Time Limit: 7.5 hours
Other details: Aid stations, gear check, finish line festival

Half Marathon (13.1 miles):

Date & Time: Sunday, October 6th, 2024 (Start time TBA)
Course: Similar to the marathon, but excluding the loop around CSULB campus.
Elevation: Sea level

Course Time Limit: 6 hours
Other details: Aid stations, gear check, finish line festival

Bike Tour (20 miles):

Date & Time: Sunday, October 6th, 2024 (Start time TBA)
Course: Scenic route along the coast and through Belmont Shore.
Elevation: Mostly flat with some rolling hills.

Other details: Rest stops, water stations, SAG support

Aquarium of the Pacific 5K (3.1 miles):

Date & Time: Saturday, October 5th, 2024 (Start time TBA)
Course: Family-friendly loop around the Aquarium of the Pacific and Shoreline Village.
Elevation: Flat.

Other details: Water stations, finish line festival

Packet Pick-Up:

All participants are required to pick up their race packets at the Race Expo, which will be held on October 4th and 5th.

Course:

The course is fast and flat, and it winds its way through some of the most scenic parts of Long Beach, including the beach, the downtown area, and the Aquarium of the Pacific.

Other Events:

In addition to the marathon, half marathon, bike tour, and 5K, there will also be a Health & Fitness Expo, a Finish Line Festival, and a Kids’ Fun Run.

Long Beach Marathon 2024 Schedule

October 4th:

No official events, but this is a good day to travel and settle in if you’re coming from out of town.

October 5th:

10:00 AM – 4:00 PM: Race Expo & Packet Pick-Up at Marina Green
5:00 PM: Aquarium of the Pacific 5K Start Time
6:00 PM: Fun Run Festivities Begin (following 5K finish)

October 6th:

6:00 AM: Marathon & Half Marathon Start Time
7:00 AM – 1:00 PM: 5K Course Open (for any walkers/runners still finishing)
10:15 AM: Bike Tour Start Time (30-mile option)
11:15 AM: Bike Tour Start Time (62-mile option)
1:00 PM: Awards Ceremony for Marathon & Half Marathon
3:00 PM: Finish Line Festival Closes
4:00 PM: Course Closes (all distances)

Additional notes:

Packet pick-up is also available on race morning (October 6th) for marathon and half marathon participants only, but it’s highly recommended to pick up your packet on October 5th to avoid the rush.
The Bike Tour has staggered start times to avoid congestion on the course.
The Finish Line Festival offers food, drinks, live music, and other activities for all participants and spectators.
The course will be closed to traffic for the duration of Long Beach Marathon 2024.
